Famous Muslim poet of Bengali literature

Shah Mohammad Sagir


There is hardly a literary lover who has not heard the name of the book Yusuf-Jolekha. But many may not know, who is the author? He is the oldest Muslim poet Shah Mohammad Sagir. He was a famous poet of Bengali literature during the 13th-14th centuries. It is believed that during the reign of Sultan Ghiyasuddin Azam Shah of Gaur (1389-1411 AD) he composed the Kabagitha 'Yusuf Zulekha.  The poet was a royal official of Sultan Ghiyasuddin Azam Shah. During this time he also composed hymns.


Where respect for parents is evident. He also highlighted the ruler's cotton. Shah Mohammad Sagir was more interested in creating religious motivation than in serving poetry. In that era, the poet's courage was evident in composing religious stories full of humor of Bengali speakers. Although the story-poem is trembling following the Bible-Qur'an or Ferdousi-Jami, the features of Bangladesh and Bengali-life have been revealed. The poem is thought to have been composed in the first decade of the fifth century. Dr. According to Enamul Haque, the poet Shah Mohammad Sagir collected the original story of Yusuf-Zulekha from 'Kitabul Quran'. But the poem is not a religious anecdote, but a romantic romance that is soaked in the juice of human life. Shah Mohammad Sagir originally created an enchanting idol of Yusuf-Zulekha in the Qur'an.



Sheikh Faizullah


Sheikh Faizullah is the medieval Muslim poet. He is known as a non-communal poet in Bengal chest. There are odds with his birthplace. According to many translations, the names of Barasat, South Radha and Comilla are mentioned in West Bengal as the birthplace of poet Sheikh Fayzullah (approximately 1575-76). But the North Dr.Mhemmad Shahidullah and Doctor Ahmad Sharif have set his lifetime as 1575-76 AD. That is, in the time that the rule of the Karani dynasty (1559 to 1575 AD) in Bengal has ended.


The ruler of the Karani dynasty was Solomon and Dawood Karani. In 1575, the Mughal period started in Bengal. At that time he was alive. Sheikh Fayzullah's birth was in the village of West Bengal. This opinion is Doctor Sukumar Sen. Sheikh Fayzullah matches the search for five poets. They are- 'Gorakuja ",' Gazijaji ',' Satyapir (1575), 'Jaynaba is the Chhawan' and 'Ragnama'



Daulat Wazir Bahram Khan



Daulat Wazir Bahram Khan is another influential poet of the 16th century romantic romance. Famous poet of medieval Bengali language. His real name was Asauddin. He became very popular in the Muslim society by composing a sad love-story poem titled 'Laili Majnu' in Persian folklore. The poet composed the poem under the financial patronage of Nejam Shah Shur, the ruler of Chittagong.  This poetic art is incomparable in majesty or literary wealth and is mature in poetry.  




While the gathering of miraculous and unusual events was essential for the creation of romance in that era, there is not the slightest trace of such a supernatural event in this poem. Dr.  According to Muhammad Enamul Huq, the poet Laili-Majnu composed poetry between 1560 and 1575.  Poet Daulat Wazir Bahram Khan Laili-Majnu, a book of medieval poetry, is incomparable in literary resources.  The gathering of miraculous and unusual events in that era where romance was needed was essential. In this poem, such incidents are not seen now. The Laili-Majnu poem is a paraphrase of the Persian poet Jamir's poem Laili-Majnu. Laili-Majnu love story is known all over the world. The main source of this story is Arabic folklore.This talented poet Bahram Khan was born in Fatehabad or Zafarabad of Chittagong district.  Baba Mubarak Khan was the Wazir (Minister) of Chattaladhipati.  After losing his father at an early age, Nejam Shur, the ruler of Chittagong, inaugurated him as his father's vizier. In addition to his work, he has made strong strides in the field of literature. He did not receive education from any educational institution, but he was self-taught.  The poet was fluent in Arabic, Persian and Sanskrit.  Evidence of this is found in the books of poetry written by Daulat Wazir Bahram Khan.  Another narrative of Bahram Khan is Imam-Vijay.  The subject of Imam-Vijay is the sad battle story of Karbala.  The name of the first poem written by Daulat Wazir Bahram Khan in literature is Janganama or Maktul Hossain is equally popular.  Lily-Majnu is his second poem.



Sonagazi Chowdhury



Poet Sonagazi Chowdhury is one of the few writers who have enriched and glorified Bengali literature in the Middle Ages. He wrote the first romantic retelling Sanful Muluk Badiuzzaman in Bengal based on 'Alif Laila'.  After him the great poets Alaol (1597-1973) and Male Muhammad (early nineteenth century) wrote poems based on the same story.  Researchers believe that Sonagazi was a poet from the mid-16th century to the early 17th century. No one mentions his date of birth in his own poems, books or anything else. Dr. Enamul Haque thinks that Donagazi appeared in the middle of the sixteenth century.


There is also some information about the birthplace of Sonagazi. In the poem, he said, 'Dollai is his home in the country.  Dollai Pargana is located in the present Comilla district.  Seeing Donagazi's title 'Chowdhury' and his sharp talent in poetry, Ahmed Sharif guessed that he was the son of a rich family. He was experienced in the traditional sciences and culture of the country. Donagazi's poem 'Saiful Muluk Badiuzzaman' begins with the worship of Allah, Rasul and Pir. No king, bureaucrat or anyone else was praised. That is, the poet did not take any patronage. Probably a factor as to why they're doing so poorly.  From this it can be inferred that self-motivation worked behind his poetry.



Syed Sultan


Syed Sultan is a medieval poet of Bengali literature. He was born in the village of Nambarpur in Habiganj Sadar upazila of Habiganj district.


His other books are Nabivansh, Shab-i-Miraj, Rasul Vijay, Joykum Raja's Fight, Iblis Nama, Gyan Chautisha, Marfati Gaan, Padabali. His other books are: The book is dated to the end of 1500. He wrote the poem in about 25,000 lines, praising God in the poem and narrating the story of 18 prophets before starting the biography of the poet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The first chapter of the epic ends with the story of the first and the story of Jesus (pbuh) and thus the poet concludes the first volume of the epic Realized.



Poet Zainuddin.



The famous medieval poet Zainuddin. In the 15th century, Ross unveiled the Yuga among the few who were inspired by the creation of the main literature, and later many took part in it. Poet Zainuddin is one of them. He was a court poet of Sultan Yusuf Shah of Gaur (1474-1481 AD). The poet has repeatedly mentioned the name of the Sultan in his poetry. The name of Zainuddin's poem is Rasul Vijay. The poem is a triumphant story of the propagation of Islam by Hazrat Muhammad (Sm.).


The poem describes the long battle between Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) and Jayakum, a ruler of Iraq. Rasul Vijay is not a basic story, the poet has given a new look to a story taken from a Persian book. Kabir's father's name was Mainuddin. They claim to be descendants of Caliph Abu Bakr Siddiqui.  Zainuddin was a follower of the Sufi sect.  Shah Mohammad Khan was his Pir. The patron of the poet was Yusuf Khan, the prince of Gaur, who later became the Sultan of Gaur named Shamsuddin Yusuf Shah (1474-82).  The poem 'Rasul Vijay' is not a basic story, the poet has taken a new form from the story taken from a Persian book.  Poetry shows the victory of Islam in war.



Hayat Mahmud


Hayat Mahmud Mughal period is the last poet of Mughal period, Hayat Mahmud. It was estimated that between 1680 AD, between 1685 AD, was born. And from 1768 to 1770, he died in one period. His father's name was Shah Muhammad Kabir and his father was a Dewan of the Ghoraghat government at that time. Haat Mahmud's father was also a poet.


Kabir's ancestors were a government official or judge from the tribe of Mughal and Nababi. Haat Mahmoud himself was also a judge. So far, the book of poet Hayat Mahmud has been found. Among those poetry, the turmoil or the Mahambish episode, the emergence of the heart or all of them, the sound of the voice, the Ambiya. In the poetry of Karbala's texts, the dire of the dearness of the poetry (peace be upon him) in poetic texts written by Karbala's grief of Karbalar Hassan Hossain's grief. The bride has received a place of heartbreaking description of the heart of the bride, the bride, lamentation, lamentation, the cruel description of Imam Hossain, with the sword of the disbelievers. The poet Haat Mahmud gave his own self-satisfaction at the one place of the poetry. Through which the history of the Bhat Bhati village in Pirganj area has been reflected.



Nasrullah Kha



The Middle Ages saw a golden age in the Muslim literature of Bengal. The contribution of Muslims in the Bengali literature of that period was very important.  Another famous Bengali poet of that golden age was Nasrullah Kha. He composed some outstanding poems in about 1560-1625. So far, four books of poetry written by him have been found.  They are Janganama, Musa Sawal, Shariatnama and Hidayatul Islam. His long autobiography can be seen in his Janganama and Shariat Nama. It is known from the autobiography written in Shariat Nama that Hamiduddin Khan, the former husband of the poet, was an important person of the Gaur court. He built a house at Bahar Chharah in modern South Chittagong. Poet Nasrullah had no children. But others in the family, including his brother, are still settling in Jaldi village of Banshkhali police station.Kabir's poem mentions Sandwip winner Fateh Khan. It is known in the genealogy of the poet that the poet was alive in the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries. Poet Nasrullah Kha has become the best for his contribution to medieval Muslim literature.  He enriched Muslim literature by composing his books of poetry on Muslim history and tradition.




Syed Alaul



Syed Alaol was a poet of the seventeenth century. According to some, he is a resident of Faridpur and according to others, he is from Chittagong. Although Alaol emerged as one of the leading poets of the Arakanese dynasty, he was one of the leading Bengali poets of the Middle Ages. He was fluent in Arabic, Persian, Hindi and Sanskrit.


He was also fluent in Brajbuli and Maghi languages.  Besides, he was well versed in Yoga, Kamashastra, Spirituality, Islam and Hindu Theology, Warfare, etc. But in the life of the poet there were tensions of happiness and sorrow.  Poet Alaol's famous book of poetry Padmavati. Alaul Padmavati was composed under the patronage and inspiration of Magan Tagore, the Prime Minister of Rosang State. Which was a translation of the Hindi poem Padumavat by the poet Malik Muhammad Jaisi.  At the instigation of Syed Musa, he translated the Persian texts Sayfal Muluk and Badiuzzamal.  Among his notable poems are Tohfa, Darasekendarnama etc.
